We were sort of planning to extend the trip to include Quincy, Carthage, and Nauvoo, Illinois, but at the exact time of the race, the thunder cracked, lightning struck and the race was postponed one hour.
Finally, the race began in driving wind and rain. Paul ran the half-marathon race prepared for the worst and he made it! His time was 2:14 for 13.1 miles. Not bad.
Long story about the hotel room that never happened, so we slept in the car for several hours and we were ill-prepared and drenched - so I told Paul that I wanted to go home, and we did.
